Advertisements to be featured in magazine;

When considering which companies may wish to advertise in my magazine, I should also consider how this will appeal to the target audience. Due to the genre of my magazine, which is hip-hop, many songs in this genre include commercial brands which are mentioned throughout many different songs. One of these brands in particular is Gucci. Gucci clothing and accessories are worn by many artists within the genre and this would greatly influence listeners to want to buy this brand, therefore I believe that Gucci would be eager to advertise in a hip-hop magazine. I also believe that big car companies would wish to advertise such as Bentley and Mercedes. These types of cars are also featured in many aspects of the hip-hop community influencing fans of the genre to want to buy these cars. Perhaps different mens aftershave would be advertised such as Calvin Klein which seems to be a common feature amongst advertising in music magazines. Versace is another clothing brand which I believe would wish to advertise in my magzine. Like Gucci it is also mentioned in various different rap songs and therefore I believe they could influence the target audience and appeal to buyers of the magazine. I also believe that Rolex would want to advertise in my magazine as they are a flashy accessory worn by many artists in hip-hop.

Double page spread;

Photo shoot images;

 I have chosen my photo for my double page spread, drawing inspiration from images used in other magazines. I have used my friend to portray rapper Eminem and chose to have him sitting down whilst clenching his fists. This gives off the the feeling of aggression and violence using the clench fists and also draws attention to the ring on his finger. I chose to have the black and white filter because of the anchorage to the dark story that will be on the opposite page. His serious expression also gives him a "hard" look and makes the photo more intense. The black and white filter is often used in other magazines, and so is the position of having the music artist sitting down.

                                                                           

DPS Planning for Photoshoot;

For the double page spread I have decided that I will use one main image for the double page spread. This image will have no similarity to the front cover, but will focus on one of the coverlines. I plan to use my friend to pose as a rapper which will take up only one of the pages, but will be accompanied by an article alongside on the opposite page. The photo will show my friend looking quite serious and wearing clothes and jewelery that is quite relevant to the genre of hip hop. These features will include flashy jewelery and baggy clothing. I may also have my friend dressed with dog tags to connote a violent aspect to him and also have him wearing dark Clothes.

Double Page Spread Reseach;

As a part of my research I have decided to look at other magazines and gather examples on how their double page spread would usually be laid out. This particular double page spread has come from the popular hip-hop magazine VIBE this wold be important to look into seeing as I have chosen to use hip-hop as the genre for my magazine. I ike the look of this spread because it uses contrasting black and white colours to make the artist stand out against the background. I also like the bold writing with the reflection of the letters underneath. The artist is dressed in a suit which connotes his wealth and success and drinking champagne to add to this image.
